Applications of Enzymes in Our Daily Life

Image

Here are some examples of enzyme biotechnology you might use every day in your own home. In many cases, the commercial processes first exploited naturally occurring enzymes. However, this does not mean the enzyme(s) being used were as efficient as they could be.With time, research, and improved protein engineering methods, many enzymes have been genetically modified. These modifications allow them to be more effective at the desired temperatures, pH, or other manufacturing conditions typically unsuitable for enzyme activity (e.g. harsh chemicals). They are also more applicable and efficient for industrial or home applications.

I. Application in feed

The use of enzymes in feed mainly has following three functions: improving the utilization of starch, protein and minerals; degrading the anti-nutritional factors present in animal feed; avoiding the indigestion due to the immature digestive system, insufficient endogenous enzymes of young animals to improve feed digestibility.

II. Application in the brewing industry

Enzyme preparation and brewing industry are inseparable and mutually integral. Whatever Chinese ancient distiller’s yeast for brewing, the malt used in modern beer, the Jiuyao in Chinese Huangjiu or the Daqu in Chinese liquor are all rich in enzymes.

III. Applications in other industries

Enzymes used in the textile industry are mainly amylase, protease, catalase, cellulose/hemicellulase, pectinase and lipase. Amylase and lipase are mainly used in the fabric of the demulsification to improve whiteness, pigment absorption and soften the fabric; protease is mainly used for silk, hemp degumming; cellulose/hemicellulase and pectinase.

Our esteemed journal EEG is looking forward for the upcoming issue (Volume8: Issue2) having journal impact factor of 1* and nearly 83 articles are cited in Google scholar site. We are glad for the upcoming year issue release as all the authors are invited to submit their recent scientific work through manuscripts in the mode of Research/Case Reports/Case Studies/Reviews/Short Review/ Short Communications/Commentaries/Short Commentaries/Letters to Editor/ Image articles etc., from different regions around the world.

Our Journal welcomes submissions of manuscripts on the topics covering Bioprocess, Enzyme Expression, Enzyme Kinetics, Protein InteractionProtein Purification, Protein  Engineering, Enzyme, Metabolic Engineering, etc. In the quality perspective, the journal is determined to maintain an exceptionally high standard in both facts and ethics. Accuracy and authenticity in the scientific reports of present journal are conserved above all nominal needs of the time.

A standard editorial manager system is utilized for manuscript submission, review, editorial processing and tracking which can be securely accessed by the authors, reviewers and editors for monitoring and tracking the article processing. Manuscripts can be uploaded online at Editorial Tracking System https://www.longdom.org/submissions/enzyme-engineering.html or as an email attachment to enzymeeng@molecularbiologyjournals.com
